Opcenter MES customization on Mendix means building low-code applications around an existing Siemens Opcenter environment rather than modifying it. The applications connect through Opcenter APIs to read and write production data, and provide role-specific interfaces, dashboards and workflows. Opcenter remains the manufacturing execution system. Mendix supplies the application layer on top of it.
This decides what is safe to change. Opcenter holds orders, routings, process definitions, genealogy and the logic that runs the plant. None of it moves. The screens and workflows above it are where most requests land.

The Mendix layer is built from Siemens Marketplace components where they exist — the Opcenter Execution connectors, Teamcenter Connector for revisions and work instructions, and the SAP connectors for orders and materials — and from your process where they don’t.
The name on the license changes what an application can reach and how long integration takes. It is the first question we ask, and worth answering before anyone quotes you. If your license still says Camstar or SIMATIC IT, it maps to one of these.
